PQA's Mission

To improve the quality of medication management and use across healthcare settings with the goal of improving patients' health through a collaborative process to develop and implement performance measures and recognize examples of exceptional pharmacy quality.

 

Performance Measure Included in 2015 Quality Rating System Beta Test Measure Set

 

The Health Insurance Exchanges will be implementing a Quality Rating System (QRS) for all participating Qualified Health Plans.  For 2015, the QRS will be introduced to health plans through a beta-test measure set, to give the QHPs the opportunity to understand the measures, collect the data, and report to CMS.


Educating Pharmacists in Quality (EPIQ)

 

PQA is excited to announce the release of the EPIQ program, a resource developed by PQA that is used to train practicing pharmacists, professional stakeholders, and pharmacy students in measuring, improving, and reporting quality of care in pharmacy practice.


PQA Webinar Series on Understanding the Changing Healthcare Landscape and its Impact on Pharmaceutical Management

On August 27th from 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM (Eastern Time), PQA will offer a webinar entitled, "How Pharmacists Can Make a Difference in HCAHPS and Drive Better Patient Care Experiences."

PQA Will Test Draft Metrics


Testing plans have been developed for five draft performance measures and one quality improvement indicator (QII).  These draft metrics were sent to PQA member organizations with a request for initial comment July 8-31.


PQA Adult Immunization Task Force


In June, PQA launched a new quality measurement initiative, aimed at narrowing gaps in measurement and reporting for adult immunizations.  The PQA Adult Immunization Task Force will convene regularly over the next 12- to 18-month period.  An update of the task force's activities is provided.


PQA 5th Annual Leadership Summit to be held on November 12th in Washington, DC

Collaborating for Better Patient Care:  Integrating Medication Use Measures into Value-Based Systems

Board members, executives from member companies and PQA staff will meet to share insights on the changing quality landscape and models of care, balancing the needs of patients, plans, pharmacies, PBMs and providers in developing and implementing meaningful medication measures, exploring P4P models, as well as to exchange ideas on collaborating to improve patient care.


PQA 2014-2015 Ambassador's Program Launch - August 19, 2014


PQA will be launching this year's PQA Ambassador Program concurrent with the PQA Academic Affairs Committee initial call on August 19th at 1pm EDT.  PQA Ambassadors serve as "quality champions" at each school of pharmacy, acting as a resource for student pharmacists and faculty interested in quality improvement, performance measurement, and the transformation of the US healthcare system to a value based system.


PQA Workgroup, Panel, and Task Force Update

PQA Workgroups, Panels, and Task Forces meet by teleconference each month to meet their specific objectives.  Participants contribute their expertise and ideas to the discussion and work towards consensus-based agreement on workgroup deliverables.  A summary of the activities and discussion is provided bimonthly in the Workgroup, Panel, and Task Force Update.


Hot off the Press:  Connections to Key Quality Publications

Hot Off the Press  seeks to connect the reader to the most relevant and recent trials, reviews and commentaries related to health care quality with a focus on medication- and pharmacy-related topics. 


PQA "On the Road"

The PQA staff members participate in a number of formal committees and panels and also attend and present at a diverse array of healthcare conferences.  Information on some of the more notable staff activities is presented for your review.
