National Quality Forum Update on PQA Measures
PQA submitted its endorsed measure, Statin Use in Persons with Diabetes, to the National Quality Forum's (NQF's) Cardiovascular Standing Committee for NQF endorsement consideration. PQA's NQF endorsed measure, Antipsychotic Use in Persons with Dementia, is currently undergoing the NQF Measure Maintenance of Endorsement process. Read on

PQA Comments on Draft Guidelines for Prescribing Opioids for Chronic Pain
In December, 2015 CDC released draft Guideline for Prescribing Opioids for Chronic Pain. PQA has taken a leading position battling the epidemic of opioid overutilization, endorsing three measures of opioid over use in 2015, is currently planning to develop several more, and is working together with other measure development organizations to provide a full range of options for federal, state and health plan measurement. PQA Seeks Measure Testers
An important part of PQA's measure development process is to test draft measures using the measure specifications to calculate the rates and to complete additional sensitivity analyses. This step not only is important to determine the feasibility and validity of the measures, but also presents an exciting opportunity for member organizations to partner with PQA and to have early insights into their own performance on the measures. 2016 Quality Metrics Expert Panel
Three New Members Added
PQA's solicited applications from members to serve a three-year term on the Quality Metrics Expert Panel (QMEP). The Panel's composition reflects PQA's membership and includes individuals with clinical or other technical expertise related to quality measurement. New QMEP members are selected based on their experience and expertise while maintaining a balanced representation of the membership. Read on...
PQA Launches the 2016 Measure Development Process
PQA is pleased to launch its 2016 measure development efforts through the active engagement of Measure Development Teams (MDTs), Task Forces (TFs) and Panels. New measure concepts for development were prioritized by PQA staff based on input from PQA's Measure Advisement Group, Patient & Caregiver Advisory Panel, and Implementation Advisory Panel. The selected concepts are also considered to align with the National Quality Strategy and represent areas in which there are measurement and performance gaps based on environmental scans, to have the greatest chance of implementation in existing measure sets and performance systems.
