PQA Recognizes Six Medicare Plan Contracts for Excellence and Significant Improvement in Medication Safety Based on CMS’ Medicare Star Ratings

During PQA's Annual Meeting, six Medicare plans received PQA Quality Awards for high achievement or significant improvement in PQA measures of medication safety and appropriate use. Three plans received the PQA Excellence in Quality Award and three the PQA Quality Improvement Award.

PQA Inaugural Poster and Podium Session a Success
The 2016 PQA Annual Meeting proved to be a record-breaking year with more than 500 attendees and our first ever Poster and Podium Sessions. 30 different projects were shared during the course of the meeting. The presentations covered a wide variety of quality, pharmacy and healthcare related topics providing interesting and scientifically sound evidence for a diverse number of practice areas.

PQA is excited to welcome our fourth Executive Fellow, Melissa (Mel) Nelson! Mel recently completed her Doctor of Pharmacy degree at PQA member University of Arizona College of Pharmacy. PQA's one- year Executive Fellow Program is designed to foster the next generation of healthcare quality leadership. Each PQA Fellow is immersed in a variety of public health issues surrounding appropriate medication management and use through his/her work at the Alliance.
