PQA Annual Meeting - May 17-19, 2017
Less than one month to go!

PQA's 12th Annual Meeting is rapidly approaching.  Join Healthcare executives from health plans, PBMs, community pharmacy, life sciences and technology companies, government agencies including CMS and the CDC, healthcare associations and academia, as they come together to hear from healthcare experts on the state of the industry and to share thoughts and ideas on improving medication use and safety. Open to members and non-members.


Three Measures up for Endorsement Consideration during PQA's Annual Meeting

At the PQA Annual Meeting (May 17-19), PQA members will have the opportunity to vote on the endorsement of the following new performance measures:

1.  Treatment of Chronic Hepatitis C: Completion of Therapy
2.  Polypharmacy: Use of Multiple CNS-Active Medications in Older Adults
3.  Polypharmacy: Use of Multiple Anticholinergic Medications in Older Adults

PQA - CVS Health Foundation Scholars Program
Now Accepting Applications

PQA is accepting applications for the PQA - CVS Health Foundation Scholars Program.  This program is designed to support and recognize student excellence in demonstration projects centered on quality-related initiatives and foster student-mentor relationships.  PQA - CVS Health Foundation Scholars will design, implement and present a project related to quality measurement or improvement with the help of a mentor familiar with the quality landscape.  More information can be found on PQA website.  The deadline to apply is June 15, 2017.

PQA Receives AARP Grant for NQF Measure Incubator

The AARP 
has awarded PQA $200,000 through an AARP Measure Innovation Grant to develop and test the quality measure concept, Hospital Admission or Emergency Department (ED) Visits for Bleeding Events Associated with Anticoagulant Medications.

PQA Measure Development Update:  April 2017

T
he Measure Development Teams and Task Forces have been meeting monthly via webinar, and the Stakeholder Advisory Panels had their first meetings in March. Additionally, the Risk Adjustment Advisory Panel, Patient & Caregiver Advisory Panel, Implementation Advisory Panel, Measure Update Panel and Quality Metrics Expert Panel have been meeting regularly to continue their work.

The PQA staff is pleased to welcome the newest addition to our team, Loren Kirk, who will be serving as the Associate Director of Member Engagement.  Loren comes to PQA after successfully completing his Executive Fellowship with NACDS.  Loren received his Doctor of Pharmacy from East Tennessee State University (ETSU).
